The game of the week delivered as Marion Local had to rally to win at St. Henry and extend its winning streak to 67.
Pick-6, goal-line stand, late long touchdown pass: This game had it all!
Maybe they’ll end up seeing each other again in the playoffs, but for now Marion Local’s Tim Goodwin was happy to see a mostly new group have a coming-of-age moment.
For St. Henry coach Josh Werling, the effort to restore the Redskins to their former glory continues.
Elsewhere in the MAC, Minster beat Anna thanks to clutch play from left-handed sophomore QB Carson Kaylor.
Can the Wildcats give the top teams in the MAC a run for their money?
We’ll soon find out. The play win-less Parkway this week, but then it’s Coldwater, St. Henry and New Bremen in consecutive weeks.

This week I made the trip to Vandalia to see Xenia take on Butler for the second year in a row.
This game ended up having a lot in common with the last one: Deaunte White ran wild for the Buccaneers, who also pitched a shutout this time.
Their 20-0 win was big after a humbling loss at Troy a week ago, signaling Xenia is still a force to be reckoned with. (And further confirming the Trojans are, too.)
Xenia coach Maurice Harden preaches physicality, and his team certainly brought that on both sides of the ball.
White finished with 204 yards while Sincere Valdez added 76 more for the Buccaneers, but the knockout blow came through the air.
Xenia takes a 20-0 lead at Butler on this nifty pump and go TD from Gage Stephan to Shawn Fishwick

While the offensive line imposed its will one pulling guard at a time, the defense looked fast and aggressive.
Meanwhile, Butler was left to pick up the pieces. The Aviators were 8-2 in the regular season last year but lost to both of the MVL division champs — Xenia and Tippecanoe.
There is lots of season left for Zach Gueth’s team, but he was very disappointed in all the mistakes they made Friday night…
Piqua got into the win column in a big way, throttling Greenville 50-7.
Normally that might not be as newsworthy, but the Green Wave were 2-0 (after entering the season on a 22-game losing streak) while the Indians were 0-2.
I saw Piqua a week ago at Tippecanoe, and that game was not as close as the 44-7 final score.
Tall, athletic receiver Rayshawn Garrett did catch my eye, though and apparently coach Bill Nees found another weapon this week in practice: 5-6, 141-pound running back Debo Knisley.
With veteran coach Steve Channell at the helm, Greenville will still be a team to watch the rest of the way.
In Central Ohio, Ohio University recruit Levi Davis starred as Olentangy Orange beat Olentangy 42-14.
Davis went for nearly 300 total yards despite having to contend with a defense that included three Division I prospects, including Ohio State recruit CJ Sanna at linebacker.
Not far away in Dublin, Jerome topped district rival Coffman 24-7 in a homecoming of sorts for coach Mark Crabtree, who coached Coffman when it was a power earlier the century (and sent several players to Ohio State) but now is in his first season as the head man at Jerome.
Other games of note:
Fort Loramie beat Sidney Lehman 44-24 in a rivalry renewal, though Turner Lachey threw for another 400 yards and five touchdowns while Evan O’Leary had another 200-yard receiving game.
Danny Hoke ran for 165 yards on just 17 carries as Graham pounded Covington 49-8. The Falcons are 3-0 and have equalled their win total from last season. They last won more than three games in 2022 when they went 5-6.
MJ Macy and Robert Denniston combined for 316 yards on just 15 carries for Arcanum in a 53-13 win over Dixie. Macy had 164 while Knaus had 152. The Trojans are 3-0 for the first time since 2021 when they went 8-3.
